I really strayed from this didn’t I?  Well hopefully I am back on track here.

Believe it or not, nothing much has happened since my last post.  I’m too broke to do anything cool.  I will tell you that the other day I was waiting in a lobby, reading a script, minding my own business when I happened to look at the dude sitting across from me.  Low and behold, it was Mrs. Doubtfire himself.  Robin Williams was just chillin there.  I thought it was pretty cool.  Unfortunately I was working so I didn’t say hi to him or anything.  But it was still cool nonetheless.

We finished the first draft of our script, and now it’s pending a major rewrite.  I am frustrated at the amount of work we have to put into it again but it’s going to be worth it.  We are hoping to have it finished by the middle part of March, unless there are more rewrites.

The Oscars are today.  Actually excited for these ones.  I am doubtful but hopeful that Johnny Depp will win one finally.  We all know he deserves it.  I was actually up on Hollywood Blvd the other day and it was all closed off. (For those that don’t know, that is where the Kodak Theater is, which is the home of the Oscars)  It was great, hardly any weirdos.  They thrive in that environment but security was tighter than a dolphin’s ass, (water tight).  So it was nice to be able to walk around without being hassled by some dirty “rapper” trying to get you to take his free CD for a small fee of 5 bucks.

OK, on to the links…

Little Faith is really growing up.  Beth sent me a bunch of pictures the other day, I wont post them all, I wont be that uncle, but I will put one up.  So without further ado…

Here are some links, for some reason Youtube is down so these are probably going to suck.

Hell, it has been raining here for a week straight and they are calling for several more days of it.  L.A. sucks when it rains.  People go crazy, everyone’s roof leaks and there is shit to do.  I’m done with it.

The premiere for Untraceable was last night, really a good time.  The movie wasn’t one of our best but it certainly wasn’t the worst I’ve seen Lakeshore pop out.  I wouldn’t recommend going to the theater to see it though, it’s definitely a DVD movie.  Back to the premiere, it was really nice, several big stars were there, which always makes for a fun experience.  Edward Norton, Diane Lane, Josh Brolin, Colin Hanks and even Braylon Edwards were there.  Don’t ask me why he was there but he was.  I actually ended up parking next to Edward Norton, which was weird, as we were both getting in our cars at the same time.

The food at this joint was lacking, little finger foods, and the bar was hoping.  It was definitely more up-tempo than the last one I went to.  The had raw tuna pizza, let me tell you, raw tuna looks just like pepperoni in the dark, it was quite a surprise to bite into that.  But it was really good; luckily I love sushi it actually worked out in my favor.

Seth and I spent several hours yesterday finishing the last bit of the first draft of our script, a few simple proof reads and it will officially be done, well, the first draft, with about 4 or 5 more drafts to come.  I am very happy with it, but I will admit I am getting sick of it, I’m ready to move onto something more challenging, more interesting.  We have been researching a piece based on true accounts.  A story that comes out of Ohio in the 1830’s.  Really hoping we can pull it together and get it on paper.  I’ll keep everyone posted.

It is leaking in here again so I am done with this.  Below are a few funny links that I think you guys might get a kick out of.  Let me know what you think.

1/21/2008

And I am back.  It really is hard to find time to sit down and write this thing.  I don’t know why but it seems like I forget it every night.  Well, I am off work today and have plenty of time on my hands.

UPDATES:
1, our script is near completion.  We are putting the finishing touches on this week and doing a final edit in the following week.  It is funny, when we started off, it was a simple film about kids getting eaten by werewolves, now it has adapted to the intertwined mess of relationship, bad tempers, conspiracies and life lessons of a group of kids getting eaten by werewolves.  Believe it or not it’s actually quite good.

In other news, My mom sent me some more pics of Faith (my niece) She is growing like a weed, or at least it appears that way.  Mom tells me she has a cold, knowing nothing about babies, I am not sure if that is really serious or just an inconvenience to her.  Either way, I hope she gets better soon.  I posted one of the new Pictures below.

In Hollywood news…

I went out to a bar in Beverly Hills with the coworkers Friday night and to my surprise Anna Hathaway was there.  Unfortunately she declined my offer of marriage but she was friendly about it.  Part of our posse actually knew part of hers or something like that so it was pretty cool.  I will say though, that girl should eat a sandwich or something.  A stiff breeze coulda knocked her over.

In more Hollywood news, Lakeshore Entertainment (the company I work for) is releasing its next movie this week.  Untraceable, starring Diane Lane and Colin Hanks opens Friday.  Lucky me, I get to go to the premiere tomorrow night after work.  Red carpets, free champagne, free food, movie stars and the whole nine yards.  Ill let you know if the movie is any good.

That is about it, I should get myself moving for the day.  I did want to lend you some entertainment first though.  Will introduced me to this awesome show called Top Gear.  Now the show is filmed in England and everyone speaks with a crazy accent but it is great.  The show is basically used to test million dollar cars, and when I say test I mean race fighter jets, evade army tanks, be converted into boats and even play soccer.  You might not get that last one so I included a clip.  The show is wonderfully funny and bad ass, not to mention it is shot better than most American Movies.  Give these clips a look, if you like what you see and want to know how to actually watch a real episode email me and I will give you directions.  It’s a bit complicated….

That’s it, I’m out of useless information.  Until next time…..

Im not going to do much tonight, it's already late and I have a lot of writing to catch up on. I will treat you to a goodie I found on you tube some time back.

I hoped you enjoyed that as much as I did. Ok, off to write about werewolves and misadventures. Have a great night, and just in case I dont get a chance to update tomorrow, Happy Birthday Dad.

Despite what that October Post said I was not back. I had computer issues as well as time issues, needless to say nothing was posted. Well, it's a new year, and I'm in a new place so here it goes. I'm going to do my best to keep up on daily posts again, just as long as you promise to read them.

Lets see, for starters I am working at Lakeshore Entertainment now. I am a PA, and for you non film folks that is a fancy was of saying I am someones bitch. Everything from making copies, coffee, excuses to working in the mailroom and manning the front desk at our office. It really is a good place to work, the people there are great. They give you free sandwiches, so it cant be that bad huh? If you want to check it out go to www.Lakeshoreentertainment.com.

My brother and his Wife, Beth, just had a baby girl. Very excited about that. I will admit, I do wish I was home more to spend time with them, I did get to go home for a few days around Christmas. She was less than a week old and as tiny as they come. I think she likes me, everytime I hold her she just starts kicking and waving her arms, she doesnt cry so I just think she is showing her enthusiasum. Here she is giving my finger the death grip...

Not much else is going on, I miss home from time to time. Hoping to make a trip back in a few months. That is if skybus is still in operation then. So my computer is being a shit so I am closing but fear not my friends, a new post is a mere 24 hours away.

10/09/07

After a long hiatus I am back!

3 weeks ago I packed up and vacated the great State of Ohio and headed to Beverly, well West L.A.  The trip was both fun and painstaking, I left at 8 am on Tuesday and finally got to L.A. around 10p.m. their time making my total travel time like 50 hours or something like that.

Giant crosses, mammoth spiders, incredible sunsets and hours of road lay in store.  I actually made a short video about it while I was driving, Ill be slapping that together in the next few days but in the mean time, here are some stills that I snapped, they aren’t much but I suppose its better than nothing.

Me in Arizona

Sunset, Arizona/New Mexico line.

Sunset in New Mexico

Ill be posting pics of California soon as well.

I’m still looking for a job, nothing much has come up yet though, just submitting resumes and asking everyone I meet if they know of anything.  Working the temp agency angle but haven’t heard back from them yet.  I must admit that I am a bit frustrated and slightly aggravated but honestly I can’t get excited about any of this.  It’s only been three weeks, this kind of thing simply take time.

That is pretty much it, I have a lot more to talk about but I want to get the video done first, so I will post all that at once.  Hope everyone back home is doing great.  Oh yea, GO BUCKS, we are looking great.

D.

I am watching NFL Live.

9/11/07 who cares what time it is.

Well, its shot.  I spent all weekend shooting my latest film.  It poured the first day of the shoot, which normally wouldn’t be a huge deal, I had a rain set but we covered everything needed on that set in a matter of hours.  So that left us with our fingers up our butt a lot.  Finally the weather broke and we got some excellent shots at dusk.  I am going to pull the stills from Bryans camera and post them up here when I get the chance.

For now I do want to thank everyone that helped me out, you know who you are.  And if you don’t watch the film and you will be in the credits.

Onward – I am moving a week from today.  The way I see it, Columbus has just about all of me that it can handle so I am off to bigger, smellier places.  Fret not Columbus, I will be back in momentary spurts.

I am still out of room on my server, so basically all I can post is text and links, so I apologize for the pictureless posts.

I saw The Killers live this weekend, it was absolutely amazing,   Saturday started off in fine fashion, Jon and I went to Huntington WV to watch West Virginia take on Marshall.  Don’t worry, I wore my Buckeyes shirt the whole time.  Surprisingly I had several people shout GO BUCKS as I strolled by.  Not a bad little town.  Well on the way home it started pouring down rain, which normally wouldn’t be a big deal except for the fact that the Killers concert was held outside at Lifestyles Pavilion.  Despite being stuck in traffic for nearly 2 hours, I made it to the show, which I have to thank Matt and Heide for hooking me up with the ticket.  It was still pouring down rain, lightning like mad and basically typhooning over downtown.  Regardless of the torrential downpour, we had a great time and the band was bitchin.  If you get a chance to see them I strongly recommend it.

Ok, on to the good part, here are my clips.

This first one is a trailer for the new horror film, Hatchet.  Now this film has had a buzz around it for what seems like years, I honestly don’t see what the big deal is about it, but I do like the trailer.  Something in it makes me want to check out the film, after its released to dvd of course.  Here it is, check it out for yourself.

Ok, that’s all I got for you, I need to get to work on my Demo Reel.  Have a great day.

D.

I’m listening to Tomandandy – Final Fight

9/4/07 9:02 p.m.

Well, well, we meet again.

Holy crap, Michigan got their asses handed to them.  I could not have imagined a better first week of college football.  Ohio State is victorious as is my alma mater Bowling Green.  I was thoroughly impressed with BG and their new quarterback.  I will post a link to his stats after next game, I don’t want to jinx him.
As much as it pains me to see a Big 10 team go down in flames like Michigan did Saturday, it somehow feels great to see that slimy turd of a team falter like Rosie O’donnell’s  lawn chair on a sultry summer evening.  This was the scene in a bar in Happy Valley Pennsylvania.  After the many times Michigan cheated Penn State I cant say I blame them for their reaction.

As my About Derek section claims, I am a pirate, so naturally I loved this clip.  This is footage of Johnny Depp’s first trip through the new Pirates of the Caribbean theme ride.  The beginning is quite boring but toward the end, minute 1:14, Johnny gets out and interacts with his animatronic self and I may say, it is pretty damn funny.

Lastly I am shooting my latest installment this coming weekend.

http://www.graveaddiction.com/ccreek.html

I wanted to post photographs of the cemetery I will be filming in but unfortunately I am out of room on my server so I will have to post a link to the site.  This problem will be remedied in coming weeks.

Ok, I have to go put fingernails on a corpse, have a glorious evening.

Oh yea, 12 days until I leave for LA, you better miss me.

I am listening to the crazy bitches that live across the hall scream at one another about who knows what.  ( If you have ever visited me you know what I am talking about

8/28/07 11:39 p.m.

Yo,

I got to tell you, I am pumped, the Bucks kick off this week and the Bengals next week. I freakin' love football! I am a little saddened that I will not be here to enjoy the season though, especially since I live mere blocks from the shoe, I will at least get to enjoy the first two games. I looked at tickets to the Youngstown State game; the cheapest I could find was over 80 bucks.

Now, I love the Buckeyes but come the hell on, that is ridiculous. Lets imagine for one minute that every seat in Ohio Stadium ran 80 dollars, there are what, 101,000 seats, 101,000 x 80.00 is what? 8,080,000 per game, not to mention parking, hot dogs and merchandise. I tell you what, screw this film business; I am going to start a college football team. Nonetheless, GO BUCKS!

I have this series that I found on www.atomfilms.com its called Hell Holes and the name basically says it all.

AtomFilms.com: Funny Videos | Funny Cartoons | Comedy Central

I highly suggest that you check out the entire series, they keep getting better. I think the special effects on it are downright badass.

Lets see what else?

I think I am going to wrap up and do a movie review.

Later bitches!

8/26/07 9:35 p.m.

Short entry this time, as you may have noticed, there is some new information on the main page, I will try to update that everyday but we will see how that goes, until then keep reading the blog and please pass my site on, I want everyone to watch these films. Nothing like whoring myself out for publicity.

Thanks to Becky, I did manage to figure out how to embed videos so this should be a lot easier to navigate. For your viewing pleasure I have posted one of Tim Burton's early works, Vincent. Enjoy.

Well, hidee friggin’ ho!  Lets get started.

Got a jam packed weekend ahead of me, getting my hairs cut finally.  I was getting a bit shabby.  Headed out to Dayton this weekend for a wedding, congrats Jenny and Matt by the way.  Then hitting the road once again to help Dad put siding on his house.  I only have two weeks of work left, which is great, I am a mere 21 days from the big move.  I am a bit anxious/nervous/scared shitless.  I am sure it will be fine though.  Looking forward to shooting again.

Here are the most recent goodies…

Joe Swary sent me this, I will admit that I haven’t yet looked at it but Joe, and avid reader of this blog supports it, and that is good enough for me.  So check it out, let me know what you think, I’ll be doing the same.

http://clarkandmichael.com/

Apparently the kids from Super Bad have a site that is basically a library of failed sitcom pilots.  No idea what to expect so expect the world.  Just give it a damn shot, that’s all I ask.

I doodled this thing on windows paint at work the other day, everyone seems to love it for some damn reason, there is even talk of a local band using it as either cover art or t-shirts, either way here it is.

Lastly…

The Conedog!  The great Conan O’Brien, of late night fame has this youtube video that is quite possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen.  He basically attends a mock, 1864 baseball game and proceeds to verbally bash the participants and onlookers alike.  I seriously peed a little when I watched this

8/20/07 8:00 p.m.

Yo Ho!  It has been too damn long, I am back, so watch the hell out!

Lets get the ball rolling with this new website that is funnier than Richard Simmons at a porno convention.

www.filmdrunk.com  is a spin off of the critically acclaimed website www.wwtdd.com (what would Tyler Durden do?).  Instead of ripping celebrities to shreds, which I adore, this site focuses on movie news, giving production stills of upcoming films such as the new Batman and the new Indiana Jones movies in addition to making the creators of some of these turds look like morons.  For example…

Holy stock footage of world landmarks intercut with closeups of Hollywood stars, Batman!  It's another Jerry Bruckheimer flick!
This time it's the sequel to 'National Treasure', which, in case you missed it, was about Nick Cage searching for pirate treasure hidden in the Gettysburg Address or some shit.

'National Treasure: Book of Secrets' appears to be a pastiche of rumors with a vague historical basis held together by implausible coincidences.  And of course spiced up by some quirky computer experts and a straight talking black.  If I've learned anything from Jerry Bruckheimer, it's that black people keep it real.
Though I'm going to be pissed if this doesn't have any ghosts or animals who rap.

If you don’t find this site funny then let me know,  and I will personally piss in your sock drawer!

On the topic of movies that Arnie Grape look like Einstein, Black Sheep is a newly released film out of New Zealand that makes Snakes on a Plane look like Corky Romano.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMp8mSRiHow

I honestly cannot say what it is but I really want to watch this movie.  Growing up in Appalachia I think it would be great to finally see sheep nail a bunch of rednecks, instead of the other way around.  I am convinced that this will be so awfully bad that it will be downright awesome.  If you have seen it please send me a review and I will gladly post it.  Here are some stills for those that don’t think the trailer is convincing enough.

In lieu of more content on the blog I am adding some new features on the main page, a blog updater, a movie review section and some other crap, let me know what you want to see and I will gladly throw it up there.

Until then, keep the barn door closed and your hand on the trigger.

I am listening to Tom Waits – A Thousand Big Bangs

8/10/07 2:09 p.m.

Finally it’s getting cooler out.  I swear I could bake muffins in my room there for a while.

Got lots to cover so lets get started.

I am spending to night atop a Native American cemetery, or along side it I should say.  I am investigating claims of paranormal activity that supposedly occur in and around the mound itself.  If I actually catch any activity on the investigation I plan to compile a short documentary that will undoubtedly end up on here.  I don’t expect to find anything but I hope I am wrong.  The area I am going to is full of these mounds, most of which are located in parks that strictly prohibit camping and whatnot but this one is privately owned and I have full reign over it for the evening.  Though I have no idea how old this site is the others around it are easily over 2000 years old.  This could be interesting

..................................................................................... .

I was screwing around at work yesterday and found this interesting story http://citypages.com/databank/22/1087/article9856.asp

It seems that there is this cat down in Texas that has been spitting out records for nearly 30 years and no one has ever seen or heard from him.  He is basically a ghost that records these things.  Going under the handle Jandek, he has only done one or two interviews in his 30 year career and only recently began doing live shows.  These live shows are really interesting as well, they never announce ahead of time that he is going to be there, nor do they introduce him as he takes the stage.  The people performing with him don’t even know who he is, they only address him as “a representative of Corwood Industries”, Corwood being the company that produces his records.

As if this story could not get any weirder, the dudes style of music is interesting to say the least.

..................................................................................

“Put simply, the record was the most terrifying thing I had ever heard. From the scratchy vinyl issued forth an out-of-tune acoustic guitar meandering under an awful, tuneless moan of a voice--all seemingly devised from the most primitive Radio Shack recording equipment.”
                                                                                                Nick Phillips of City Pages

I’d say he summed it up fairly well.  Being a fan of weird music, after all I think Tom Waits is God, I gave him a shot.  I will be honest, it sounded like shit, it reminded me of what I sounded like before I learned to play guitar.  Although, once I set all that aside and really tore into it I realized it wasn’t so bad, and in fact it was down right interesting.  Granted I have only listened to a handful of songs to date, so I am basing this opinion on a mere sample of his discography.  At any rate, here are a few clips, check it out and let me know what you think.

Jandek - The Glade

Jandek Documentary

JanDek - Real Wild

I realize most people Are not going to enjoy this, so I have added one of my favorite music videos, Johnny Cash’s God’s Gonna Cut you Down video.  I think it is brilliant.

Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut you Down

Lastly,  As many of you know, and if you don’t where the hell have you been, I am moving in early September.  But, before I do, I plan on shooting one last short film here in Ohio.  I wrote this short nearly 5 years ago and have tried to shoot it several times but each time something falls through.  Well I think I am finally able to do it this time.  The story itself is pretty solid but the visuals are going to be twice as badass.  The only problem is, these effects, combined with the shooting location makes for a rather large budget.  So I am asking you, the viewers for a bit of help.  I have a section on my side entitled “help Derek” there I have a link to a paypal donation area.  If you donate 20 bucks I will personally send you an autographed copy of the DVD upon completion.   I know what you are saying, who in the hell wants my autograph?  Well its not just me, I have an Emmy nominated cinematographer, at least one actor that has been in several full length motion pictures, a director of a major news broadcast in Ohio and on top of all that you get a sweet ass DVD.  So, if you find it in your hearts to help me get this picture made, please make a donation, and in the description box include your email so I can contact you directly about your DVD and let you know when it can be expected. Thank you in advance.

That is pretty much it for today,  I have to get packing for this evenings adventure.  Keep cool out there and keep passing my website on to your friends.  Oh yea, I am kicking around the idea of making my blog entries a video instead of written.  I think that it would save be a ton of time and it might be a bit more interesting for you, the viewer.  Let me know what you would like to see.  Send me an email at ulalumeproductions@gmail.com

Good day all.

8/8/07 8:50 p.m.

Holy freakin' shit, it's hot as balls outside. My damn air conditioner isnt working all that well either, needless to say I am not happy.

Moving on,

I rediscovered a cool website today that most of you probably already know about . www.theonion.com Is an awesome fake news site that is not at all educational but entertaining as hell. Give it a look.

I spent the better half of today trying to get out of my least here at my apt. I think my best bet is to just sublease, so If you are in the columbus area or want to be, I have a place here, its small but dirt cheap. Let me know if you are interested. I can get you all the details.

Ok, it;s too hot to sit here and type, I'll add more in the morning, have a great night.

Im listening to sweat dripping on the keyboard

8/1/07 7:58 p.m.

First off, I want to put it out there that my Mom is fine now, resting at home and thankfully getting better despite a terrifying episode yesterday.  That is all I am going to say about it on here, if you know here and want to hear more contact me personally and I will be glad to fill you in.  Otherwise I am just extremely thankful.

This post is going to be terribly short, I apologize but I am dog-tired and don’t feel like writing much.

I did find this video this afternoon that was really strange; apparently these folks down in mexico are seeing witches flying through the air.  This video http://www.cryptomundo.com/bigfoot-report/flying-humanoids-filmed-over-mexican-skies/  shows what appears to be witches flying through the air.  The video is subtitled but very interesting none the less.  Let me know what you think of it.

I also found this film on ifilms.   I thought it was very imaginative and thought provoking.  http://www.ifilm.com/video/2856241 If I weren’t so lazy I would be inspired to create something in its image but I’m lucky to shower everyday, let alone make crazy ass short films about a refrigerator.  I hope you enjoy it.

Lastly I got a few request to post some of the pics from my brothers wedding a few weeks ago.  So here are a few.

Thanks for reading.  Have a great night.

D.

I am listening to Guster – Medicine

7/29/07 8:26 p.m.

I survived the Pennsylvania tour.  Met some interesting girls hanging out with Eaglen in Pittsburgh, They were pretty cool until I informed them that Roethlisberger   sucked, then all hell broke loose.  But all in all it was a good experience.
The drive from Pittsburgh was a bitch.  Man I hate that state.  The turnpike in all cost us nearly 18 bucks, which after driving it I feel they should have been paying us.  Needless to say we arrived safely without too much trouble.

I will save most of the details for a later post, once I get Jon and Mikey’s pictures.  Until then here are some shots from my camera.

Cemetery that Ben Franklin is burried in.

Eagles staduim

Independence hall square (the blue glob is the excavation site of the original presidents house)

The Liberty Bell

Me in the car, where I spent a majority of the weekend.

Jon, Mikey and I

Trump's Casino

I also found this on you tube.  Apparently these Philippino prisoners took it upon themselves to learn the entire Thriller Dance.  I will admit it is a bit disturbing but funny as hell none the less.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMnk7lh9M3o

My last addition is one of my favorite websites.  Thanks to Joe Watson, I am not addicted to it.  www.wwtdd.com  (What Would Tyler Durden Do?)  If you like celebrity gossip then you might like this.  It basically makes fun of all the tools in Hollywood and brings them down to our level.  Not quite work appropriate though, so be warned.

That is all for this evening.  I do want to send out a message to my Mom, I hope you are feeling better.  And stop working so damn hard!

D.

I am listening to the Deftones - Minerva

7/25/07 8:39 p.m.

Yo, Just for those that are keeping track, I am going to places east over the weekend so my next post wont be until Sunday night. I trust you will survive without it.

Got some good shit for you today.

First, I saw my brother over the weekend and he informed me that his toenail fell off, well, naturally I didn’t believe him, so I boldly rebuttaled with the classic "prove it!" The following photograph is that proof. Although the photo does not give it justice it is very disgusting and it smelled god-awful.

I found this short film the other day and thought it was great. If you like zombies and cops then you will dig this.

When Zombies Attack!

Lastly I stumbled upon this website yesterday. These kids actually re-shot Star Wars nearly frame by frame using cardboard models that actually look decent considering they are made out of freakin cardboard. http://www.glimpses-essential.com/starwars_remake/index.htm Although I have yet to watch the actual remake of Star Wars, The stills alone warrant a closer look. I wont get a chance to watch it for a few more days so if you do get a chance let me know how it is.

That is about all the crap I can muster for one day. Everyone have a great weekend. And just for those that are counting I am moving to Cali in early sept. So if you got business with me here in the Buckeye state better get to it.

D.

I am listening to Johnny Cash, The ballad of Ira Hayes

7/24/07 7:54 p.m.

I am aware that the links in last nights entry were screwed up, they should be fixed now, so please check them out.

This will be a short entry since nothing has really happened today. I do however want to kick this link out to you. http://www.deadpit.com is an internet radio show focused mainly on horror films. These two guys are from the heart of Kentucky and you can definitely tell. You think I talk funny. Despite their funny accents they are amusing as hell and really know their horror. Download a show and give them a listen. NOT WORK APPROPRIATE, unless you work with heathens.

That’s it for the night. More to come tomorrow. Oh yea, do me a favor and tell a friend or two about my site. I am on the verge of logging my 1000th visitor and I want to keep the numbers rising.

Hello everybody, I apologize for the gaps between entries, this past week was a beast.  Trevor and Beth, my brother and new sister in law had their wedding reception this past weekend back home.  I put together a short video to show and that pretty much consumed my entire week.  But I am back now and I got some treats for you.  I decided that these entries are still boring as hell so I decided to add some cool links, videos and some more random pics.  So lets get this shit on!

You have to check this out, if you are a fan of the Tremors series, you will love this.  Graboids are the creatures featured in the first film, aptly named because of their ability to grab your ass and tear you a new one.  Well Wikipedia can now answer all your questions in regards to these ferocious creatures.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graboid

With a full explanation of their origin to their diet, you can learn all about these things. I am starting to wonder if they might be real.

In searching for the graboid page I stumbled upon an even cooler site.  I am a huge horror fan, as I suppose most of you are, why else would you be reading this crap?  The following site, www.moviedeaths.com logs and records gruesome deaths in horror films in a data base form.  Say for example you want to know how Nick Hashimoto dies in the blockbuster King Cobra, well simply click on the link and learn all about the horrid details.

www.moviedeaths.com/king_cobra/nick_hashimoto/

Lastly but not leastly, I have an obsession with fish, tropical ones in a tank, I have had my fish for years.  I found these little bastards on YouTube the other day and thought it was one of the coolest things I’d ever seen.

Trained Goldfish

If you don’t agree then I will come to your house and hide your soap.

I hope you all have a great evening and I will do my best to keep up with this thing in the future.

7/13/07 11:15 a.m.

It is Friday the 13th everyone! Go out and celebrate! Been doing all kinds of stuff lately, check out the about section on my site for some updated information via Will Roegge. Thanks to him for the kind words. The site will be going through a little work today, hopfully it will be an improvement.

Not much else has been going on, just working a lot and pretending to write, motivation has certainly escaped me the past couple of weeks, I am hoping it is merely temporary. I have way too much to do to be lazy. Like I mentioned in a prior post I am planning on shooting one more short before I move, which by the way is coming up very very soon. This one is going to be very different than anything I have ever shot before. I would almost say it is a childrens story, Ill let all of you be the judge on that one. Like I said before, if you want to be part of it let me know I need all the help I can get. And Joe, you dont have to reply you already have a position.

Well thats it, I am out of information, have a great weekend!

7/6/07 10:50 a.m.

I apologoze, I havent been on here to blog lately. My little brother got married last weekend in the mountains of Southerrn West virginia. It was a really good time, he set us up in cabins that were down by the river at the bottom of the mountain, so basically we had to ride a cable car over a half a mile down to where we were staying. It was really cool, I posted a picture below, and more will be up later, I may even do a special page if anyone is interested.

Other than that I have been working and being lazy, the last few weeks have really caught up with me. I am getting back on track however and should be done complaining shortly. I am thinking of shooting one more short film before I skip out on Ohio, so if anyone is interested in helping out, and is going to be in the columbus area in the next month or so let me know. I am developing several different scripts and so far have not decided on one, but I do know that it will either be a thriller or a horror film, since it seems that those are the most fun to make. Ok, I have a ton of crap to do today so everyone have a great weekend and congratulations to Scott and Alison and Andrew and Nikki. They are both getting married tomorrow.

6/23/07 10:30 p.m.

Winding down from a pretty good weekend, had friends in town and went to Comfest, which was pretty damn cool. Spend all day today putting the finishing touches on Shudder, my latest attempt. It is encoding as I type which means that by midnight tonight it should be on the site under the video section. I am hoping that it is ready, I am having a few glitches with the audio so if it cuts out bear with me, I'll have it fixed soon enough. I am also going to post some of the production stills, but there is only a couple so I will also post some of the storyboards. Please feel free to send me an email letting me know if you liked it or not, as you know, I love feedback, even if it is negative. I learn from that just as much.

Got a crazy couple of weeks ahead of me so if my posts are few and far between please be patient, I will get back at it soon enough. Also I am on the brink of posting a comments section for each of my movies so you can leave your own personal review of the film, which is sweet. So keep an eye out for that. Ok, I am going to get to work posting this movie, everyone have a good week. Also I want to congratulate my buddy Matt Stoessner on his Emmy nomination. That is bad ass!

I plan on working on the site a bunch today, so if you get a chance the next few days have a look and see what has changed. I ran into Kirk Herbstreit at the Patio last night. No idea why he was there but it was really cool to see him.

Not much else going on. There is going to be a comments box under each of my films, feel free to comment on them, in fact i encourage it. Also, I dont know if you read this or not Dad, but happy Fathers Day! Until next time.

6/12/07 12:44 a.m.

Holy crap! I am a machine! I have spent the last few days gathering all of my research and today I finally spilled ink on my first feature length script. I am pretty excited and a bit overwhelmed at the same time. This is also the first true story I have ever put into script form, so I feel a certain responsibility to stay true to the original story no matter how wrong it feels. I suppose I will get the hang of it eventually.

I have also spent the last few days putting the finiishing touches on the lastest film Shudder. I think with a little luck it will be available here on the site by this time next week so keep looking for it. Not much else is going on. I recently remembered that I have a collection of a million football and baseball cards from the early 80's that I would like to get rid of. The only problem with this idea is that I have no idea who in the hell to talk to about selling them. If any of you know know where I might be able to sell these things please let me know. Send me and email mailto:ulalumeproductions@gmail.com I am not out to get rich off of them, I would like however to have some extra cash for the big move that is coming up sometime soon, (hopefully).

As promised I am including a photo that goes along with what I talked about today so here it is.

I am also going to start telling you what I am listening to as I write this crap, just in case you give a shit.

village

The script I am working on takes place in a village very much like this in the early 1800's.

6/5/07 9:21 p.m.

I haven’t written on here in a little while, my days have been running together, it seems like I have no free time at all. Surprisingly, nothing big has happened, I have been working on a few video projects, seems like none of them are ever going to get done. Getting burned out on it all I think, I need a mini break. I am going to start writing my first feature length script this week. I have been researching the story for over a year now and feel that I finally know enough to throw it together. I will be sure to keep everyone updated on that. If you are seeing those awful gray boxes around all of the buttons I apologize, I am currently working on a way to fix that, it has been a real pain in the ass. One thing you can do to view it normally is to download firefox, just google it, it is a better browser in my opinion anyway, or you can just look at those ugly ass gray boxes until I get it fixed. I don’t care either way. I have also decided that this blog is way too boring, so I have decided to start throwing some photos up that are relative to what I am rambling on about. So today’s image is dedicated to the third installment of Pirates of the Caribbean, it is from last Halloween when Capt Jack wandered all around Columbus, drunk off his ass, taking pictures with chicks and signing autographs. This is a pic from one of those nights. Hell of a good time!
As always, Visit my sponsors please. Take care!

5/28/07 12:04 a.m.

Well, the film festival was pretty much a bust. We didnt win, not that I expected to. It turns out that it was basically a popularity contest, at the end of the festival everyone in the audience got a ballot and they filled out their favorite. Needless to say, the more friends you had there the better your odds. Oh well.

Managed to get a lot done today, I finished my uncles website. (mostly) Check it out if you want bcth.org . I don't claim to be a web designer so go easy on me. Working on a few video projects over the next couple of weeks. I want to get my demo reel finished up, i am shooting some small video clips to put on the main page of my site, they go in the film strip that is posted there now. And finally I am making a trailer for my uncles site. All of these should be fairly easy projects, granted I can find the time to get them done. Then it is on to finishing up Shudder and my cousin's wedding video from last summer, I am a slacker.

If you havent noticed I have changed the layout of my site a bit, I added a page for my demo reel, thats mostly going to be used as an employment tool, so if you are looking for a videographer or a sweet ass director, watch my demo and hire me.

I'm listening to Rufus Wainwright, he is good, very enjoyable. Give him a listen Rufus Wainwright .

Ok kiddies, I'm out.

5/25/07 1:21 P.M.

i I love having Fridays off! Working on a website for my unlce for a little while longer then headed up to Mansfield for the Flick Fest that Shudder is entered in. I'm not very optimistic about the festival. I dont tend to do very well when it comes to a festival audience. I'm hoping that it is because my content is not festival geared and not that my content sucks. But, I then again, I dont make the films to win festivals.

Long four day weekend ahead of me, I am not sure what I am going to get into. I have a lot of editing to do. I am sure that will keep me busy for a while. I am getting tired of the layout of this page, if you have a suggestion on how I can shake it up a bit please let me know. I get bored with things way too easily. Ok, back to work. I'll update everyone on the festival when I get back. Until then, watch The Legend of Craven House one more time before I take it down, visit my sponsors, send me suggests and have a safe and fun weekend.

4/29/07 9:17 p.m.

Talk about an unproductive weekend, watched the draft and hung out with some friends that I haven’t seen in what feels like forever. I had big plans to spend all day editing and the rest of it working on the www.columbushappens.com site, but that simply didn’t happen. I did get some work done on the new project, its falling into place, I am pleasantly surprised at the way it is shaping up. Also found a new band, thanks to Joe, check out Brand New, I dig them.

This news will please many from the Bowling Green area. The now infamous Dolphin Song will be available on my site here in the form of a music video. Matt and I are going to shoot it on Tuesday night. I am using the opportunity to learn more about green screen usage. We will see how it goes. Until then, keep the comments coming, love the feedback.

4/26/07 11:58 p.m.

Having one of those days when I really wish I was in LA, spent all of tonight editing the new short, so far it is very creepy. If you like weird stuff this is right up your alley. Anyway, I am out of wine and out of my mind, I am going to bed. Until next time...

4/24/07 7:16 p.m.

I lied, the newest video didnt go up until today, had a glich in flash last night. But at any rate, it is up, go laugh at it. I am shooting the video to the infamous Dolphin Song later this week, hopefully that will be up sometime in May. It is super nice outside so I am going to go do something out there. Until next time.

4/23/07 9:32 p.m.

Uploading an older movie, will be on the videos page later today. Nobody actually requested it but I wanted to try something out in flash and this gave me a good excuse to play with it. It probably wont be up that long due to the fact that it is awful. It is good for a chuckle though. I made the film back in the spring of 2002, and it was basically my first attempt at filmmaking since I was 12 years old. I feel like I have come a long way. You be the judge. As always comments are appreciated, in fact, I am thinking about making a coments page on here somewhere so that people can publicly praise or bash me. Until then keep sending me emails and/or myspace messages.

4/20/07 7:37p.m.

I just posted Leaving Charles to the video page. I am sure you will all get a laugh from it, I had no idea what I was doing when I made it but we had a great time and learned a lot from it.

I am currently editing a short project that should be finished in a few weeks, so that will be posted soon. I am also toying with the idea of posting The Legend of Craven House, a mockumentary I made many years ago. If you thought the production values on Leaving Charles were bad, you should see this gem. If I get enough interest I will put it up. If you want to see it send me a myspace message or an email and I'ill slap in on there. Until then, it's friday and that bottle of merlot is not going to drink itself. Cheers.

A year ago today we lost a wonderful person. you are forever on our minds, I miss you buddy.

"Regret, remorse and wretchedness. A pillar of salt tumbles and a vibrant soul humbles himself before us.  Forgiven, is he who shattered the glass.  Restitution to those that shutter at last.  Longing are we that do without.

Our grief is discerned and the tragedy learned, as our aching hearts beat ever so strong.  Together we grieve, on this night, the eve, of the passing of our beautiful friend.  Until that time, we meet in that light, my brother, this is the end.".

4/17/07 9:23 pm

Finally, there is a movie online! Mike helped me get Dollhouse up and running so be sure to stop by and give it a watch. I should have Leaving Charles up by next week. Thats it for tonight.

4/15/07

Well, thanks to Becky, I have now gotten most of the layout finished so it is on to uploading content. I am going to do my best to get Dollhouse up sometime tonight. I am working part time researching content for a local website www.columbushappens.com so I am splitting my free time between that and my site. On the up side, it is cold as balls outside, so I certainly will not be doing anything but playing on the computer tonight. keep coming back, more cool crap is to come, this i can promise you. Those of you that are familiar... I am shooting a music video for the now infamous Dolphin Song next week. Look for it on the videos page. Oh yea, dontate a dollar bitches!

Hi there people, Well, this is it, this is the site, I had another version up earlier in the month but I couldn’t stand it, it in no way represented my actual personality, though this one is freaky as hell, it does somehow let you peek inside my demented mind.  In the next few weeks (as soon as I can get Matt to help me post it) I will have two of my movies up in the videos section in addition I will have a page with some other crap on it.  Some of my photoshop art work, sketches and whatever crap I can dig up.  If you have any suggestions, comments, love letters, hate mail or any other information to pass on to me you may do so by sending me an email.  I am going to try and get an account setup so check back for that address.
I am currently editing a new short tentatively titled Good Kill, I am also working on a short untitled piece that I plan on shooting in the coming weeks.  So, until then, poke around, watch what I have posted, donate a buck or two and keep checking back.
